The international artist Sara Urena stands out for her long career in Europe and the USA. Sara started her studies at La Unió de Quart de Poblet. She has received the José Iturbi Honor Award for the best academic record, Honor Prize in Flute and Chamber Music. She studied at the Joaquín Rodrigo Superior Conservatory in Valencia and won the End of Career Award. Fellow of the Valencian Institute of Music, she holds a Master of Flute degree from London Guildhall School of Music.
She has attended training courses such as IOIA with the Vienna Philharmonic; Orford Arts Center (Quebec), Musical Festival of Benifaió o Course with Jonathan Snowden (Washington D.C.).
She has recorded for Sony and played at the Latin Grammy's with Gloria Estefan, Santana, Kenny G and Patti La Belle, among others. Sara has won the Euterpe Prize for the best musical project of the province of Valencia, National Prize contest of young interpreters City of Xàtiva, Prize National contest young interpreters Ciudad de Líria, and Prize-Scholarship Ibercaja.
She has performed as a soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the
Chamber Orchestra of Armenia and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Mediterraneo.
She has performed in the staff of numerous orchestras in Europe and USA, such as the London Symphony, Philharmonia, Britten-Pears of England, Symphony in C of Philadelphia, Orpheus Institute, Bronx Opera Company, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. Sara Urena has received the important prize of economic endowment by the King of Spain and the Philharmonic of New York.
She passed her Master’s course in New York Manhattan School of Music with
Robert Langevin, solo flute of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
From 2013-2015 she has been the principal flute and piccolo of the National
Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia.
She has received masterclasses from Emmanuel Pahud, Gareth Davies, Mindy Kaufman, Renee Siebert, Stephanie Mortimore, Michael Parloff, Linda Chesis, Carol Wincenc, Mark Sparks, Paul Edmund Davies, Shigenori Kudo, Renate Greiss-Armin, Magdalena Martínez, Jaime Martín, Álvaro Octavio y Vicens Prats, among others.
Sara Urena collaborates regularly with Spanish orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Spain, the Valencia Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Symphonic Orchestra of Barcelona and Nacional de Catalunya.
