Christine Sahakyan, mezzo-soprano

Born in Yerevan. Christine Sahakyan has got her first musical education at Armenian Choral Association after Tatul Altunyan. In 1999 she graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory and postgraduate courses with Prof.Gohar Gasparyan.
After her successful recital in 1998 she was invited to Yerevan Opera Theater to appear in T.Chukhajian’s opera “Arshak II” with the role of Parandzem. After this performance, she was entrusted with the main roles of mezzo-soprano in the theater.
Christine Sahakyan has participated in the debut performances of the Yerevan Opera Theater’s productions of “Arshak II”, “Almast”, “Aida”, “La Traviata”, “Carmen”, “Anush”, “The Barber of Seville”, and others. She has appeared in the roles of Parandzem, Almast, Amneris, Azucena, Adalgisa, Santuzza. Christine’s repertoire includes a number of oratorio works, such as Requiems by Mozart, Verdi and Dvorak, Pergolesi: Stabat Mater, Rossini: Stabat Mater, Bach: St.Matthew Passion and others.
Christine Sahakyan is a laureate of of Republic and international competitions. She has participated in several prestigious festivals and toured to Russia, France, Germany,Poland, Lebanon, Greece and elsewhere.
Within the frames of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Christine Sahakyan participated in Gala concerts held at Grand Philharmonic Hall after D.Shostakovich in Saint Petersburg, at Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music and at “Spivakov invites…” Festival in Yerevan.
As a soloist, Christine has performed with the National Radio Symphonic Orchestra of Armenia, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, Serenade Chamber Orchestra and the Armenian State Chamber Orchestra.
Christine Sahakyan has appeared under the baton of renowned conductors, such as Vladimir Spivakov, Lior Shambadal, Byron Fidetsis, Yuri Kochnev, Vladimir Lande, Yarema Skibinski, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Yuri Davtyan, Ohan Duryan, Hovhannes Tchekidjian, Eduard Topchjan, Karen Durgaryan, Vahan Martirosyan and Sergey Smbatyan.
Since 2002 Christine teaches at the Yerevan Conservatory and from 2014 is a singer of the Armenian National Academic Choir.
