Born in Faura (Valencia, Spain) in 1984, conductor Robert Ferrer was entitled degrees in Conducting and Tuba by Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia. He has attended courses and masterclasses in Conducting with Manuel Galduf, later also with Sylvain Cambreling in Mainz and Luxembourg, with Zsolt Nagy in Brno and with YaronTraub, Enrique García Asensio and CristóbalSoler in Valencia.
In 2008-2009 he was a fellow of IVM, which was awarded a scholarship to continue studies in Conducting with Czech conductor Jiří Bělohlávek in Madrid, Paris and London. In 2010-2011 he was a fellow of Caja Madrid Foundation to study a postgraduate degree in Conducting at HAMU in Prague, with teachers Tomáš Koutník and LubomírMátl. Nowadays he is doctoral candidate in Conducting, speciality “Interpretation and theory of interpretation” at JAMU and a doctoral candidate in Musicology at the Masaryk University in Brno. From the 2017-2018 academic year Robert Ferrer is professor at the International University of Valencia. He is also a member of the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno.
He has led groups as principal or guest conductor such as Orchestra Mare Nostrum of Valencia, Youth Symphony Orchestra of FSMCV, Symphony Orchestra of Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia, Youth Orchestra of the Region of Valencia (JOGV), Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra of Olomouc, Ensemble Opera Diversa of Brno, Czech Virtuosi, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra… performing in festivals as the International Contemporary Music Festival “Ensems” in Valencia, Cycle “Las ArtesenParalelo” from Palau de la Música in Valencia, Festival International de MusiqueUniversitaire in Belfort, Biennale de la Méditerranée in Thessaloniki, Cicle de concerts somelgrup… and in concert halls as prestigious as the Municipal Centre for Musical Activities in Thessaloniki, Mediterranean Conference Center in Valletta (Malta), Besednídům and Mozart´s Hall of Reduta Theater in Brno, Martinů´s Hall of HAMU in Prague, Centre Chorégraphique National in Belfort, Kees van Baarenzaal of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Teatros del Canal in Madrid, Palau de les Arts and Palau de la Música in Valencia, Auditori de Castelló… In 2006 he founded the Ensemble Col legno, and as its artistic director and chief conductor he has conducted various premieres of new works and other performances in Valencia and abroad. As conductor of this group, Robert Ferrer has recorded several CD, among which the music for interdisciplinary show LluísGuarner: per quècantar a la terra i al mar? (2013), the CD Homenaje a la M.I. Academia de la MúsicaValenciana (2014) and the last one including ensemble and chamber works by Leonardo Balada for Naxos (2018).
He is a member of various associations and organizations such as the M.I. Academy of Valencian Music, Spanish Society of Musicology (SEdeM) and Spanish Association of Conductors (AESDO), among others.
During season 2017-2018 he collaborated as assistant conductor in the National Theater of Brno. His next projects include concerts and opera performances with PKF – Prague Philharmonia, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra…
