The bass Evgeny Stavinsky was born in Russia, in a family of musicians. He completed his studies as singer and choir conductor at the Academy of Choral Art and perfectioned himself at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino where he performed the title part in Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI, as well as the parts of Lord Sidney and Basilio in Rossini’s IL VIAGGIO A REIMS and IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and Superintendent Budd in Britten’s ALBERT HERRING. In 2006, joined the ensemble of the Moscow Novaya Opera Theatre, founded by Evgeny Kolobov.
Highlights in 2024/25 season are Nabucco in Koln and Tristan und Isolde in Liege.
During 2023/24 season Evgeny returned to the Royal Opera House in London for LA FORZA DEL DESTINO, at La Scala in Milan for a new production of Montemezzi’s L’AMORE DEI TRE RE and in NABUCCO at the Teatro Dante Alighieri, under the baton of Riccardo Muti. At the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège he appeared in RUSALKA, before returning to La Scala for GUILLAUME TELL.
Recent seasons have seen Evgeny in ERNANI in Rome, Valencia and Piacenza, in RIGOLETTO at the Royal Opera House in London, in ROMÉO ET JULIETTE, DON CARLO and IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, as well as AIDA at the Teatro Regio di Torino. At the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, he performed in Otello, and at the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo in LA FAVORITE.
Past engagements include Oroveso in NORMA at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Raimondo in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR at Teatro Comunale in Bologna, where he also opened the 2018 season as Colline in LA BOHÈME. Evegny performed Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with Orchestra La Verdi in Milan and in Tenerife, Requiem by Mozart at Carlo Felice in Genoa, Zaccaria in NABUCCO in Nice and Toulon, Ivan Khovansky in CHOVANŠČINA in Budapest, Beethoven’s 9th symphony, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, as well as Verdi’s Requiem with Berliner Philharmoniker and Maestro Teodor Kurentzis.
As a finalist and prize winner of the Riccardo Zandonai Competition, Evgeny Stavinsky has been the invited singer of the Laureates Concerts in Riva del Garda, and performed in the Riva Music Festival productions including Verdi’s Requiem conducted by Isaac Karabtchevsky, and Verdi’s RIGOLETTO. With the role of Méphistophélès in Gounod’s FAUST at Opera Theatre in Budapest and at Novaya Opera, Evgeny won the award “Gold
Mask” as Best Actor in Opera in 2018.
