Isabel Martinez is one of Spain’s leading guitarists of her generation. She has performed in prestigious concert halls such as Milton Court – Barbican Centre in London, Teatro Nacional in Costa Rica, Ateneo in Madrid, and Hangzhou Grand Theater in China, among others.
Martinez is one of the first classical artists in attracting a large community of followers in social media, reaching Millions of views on YouTube. Her first album “Noche Andaluza” published in 2019, raised a real interest among the public: ‘This disc is most enjoyable for both the quality of the music selected and the sheer musicality of the performer, who also enjoys the highest technical skills.’ (Ray Picot, ILAMS).
Born in Cartagena (Spain), Isabel Martinez studied at the Conservatorio Superior Oscar Espla in Alicante, obtaining the Premio Extraordinario under Ignacio Rodes, going on to graduate with Distinction in her Master of Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London under Robert Brightmore. She holds a Master in Performance from the University of Alicante where she studied with David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Hopkinson Smith, Paul O’Dette, Roberto Aussel, Fabio Zanon and Shin-Ichi Fukuda; and a Master in Guitar Performance and Music Research from the Conservatorio Superior of Alicante.
Martinez appears regularly on the festival circuit worldwide and has had several works dedicated to her. She currently combines her performing career with her passion for teaching at the Conservatorio de MOsica de San Javier in Spain. Isabel Martinez plays a Paco Santiago Marin guitar and uses Augustine Strings exclusively.
