Samson Tsoy, praised for his inexhaustible imagination and exceptional sensitivity, is celebrated for his groundbreaking collaborations across art forms and for redefining how and where music can be experienced.
In February 2025, he released his debut solo recording Inmost Heart on Linn Records. The album received a five-star review and was selected as BBC Music Magazine’s Instrumental Choice. He has appeared in recital at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Bozar in Brussels, Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, and Berlin’s Konzerthaus, and has performed with orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Münchener Kammerorchester, and the Philharmonia Orchestra, where he gave a rare performance of both of Brahms’ piano concertos in a single evening. His collaborations with conductors include Maxim Emelyanychev, Gergely Madaras, Enrico Onofri, Alexander Vedernikov, Valery Gergiev, and Diego Masson.
In 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris invited him to perform and co-curate the musical weekend of its major David Hockney retrospective. The same year, he created a groundbreaking site-specific residency in Far West Texas with Ballroom Marfa, expanding classical performance into landscapes, architecture, and installation. He has also worked closely with visual artists, including a performance within Richard Serra’s monumental sculpture at Gagosian in Paris.
As part of his longstanding duo with pianist Pavel Kolesnikov, Tsoy’s debut at Carnegie Hall was named one of The New York Times’ “Best of 2024.” Their first joint recording on Harmonia Mundi, featuring works by Schubert and Desyatnikov, was awarded the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and the Diapason d’Or, was selected by Le Monde among its “Favourite Albums of 2024,” and was BBC Music Magazine’s Instrumental Choice. Together they co-founded and curate the Ragged Music Festival in London, later invited to Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, which continues to explore the interaction of music with architecture and environment.
